Sergio André spoke at the I Seminar on International Taxation Organized by the Bar Association of the Federal District. In that occasion, he lectured about Brazil’s international tax policy. To view the presentation (in Portuguese), click here.

Sergio André organized, with the Center for Applied Studies in Law, a seminar dealing with issued related to accounting and taxation. In his lecture he analyzed the tax treatment of companies that use a functional currency that is not the BRL. To view the presentation (in Portuguese), click here.

Between August 27 and September 1 of 2017, Rio de Janeiro will host the annual Congress of the International Fiscal Association. This is the largest international tax event in the world. Sergio André Rocha was the general reporter of the Subject 2 of the Congress, “The Future of Transfer Pricing”. To view the general report, click here.

From May 31 to June 2, Sergio André participated in IFA-LATAM’s 9th Congress held in Buenos Aires. He joined the panel on Subject 2 (“Aggressive Tax Planning and Abuse in the Use of Tax Treaties”) as Brazilian reporter. To view the panel’s presentation (in Spanish), click here.

On May 30, Sergio André participated in IBDT’s fifth Congress on current topics on tax law, held at the University of São Paulo. He shared a panel with Ricardo Mariz de Oliveira e Elidie Bifano in which they commented on challenges related to the interaction between tax regulations and IFRS accounting. On March 31, Sergio André spoke during the seminar “Controversial Topics at CARF”. The topic of the presentation was controversies regarding the application of the dividend exemption rule, notably after IFRS implementation in Brazil. The seminar was coordinated by the Special Commission on Tax Affairs of the Rio de Janeiro chapter of the Bar Association. Several CARF members participated in the seminar. Sergio André lectured at the Summer Course of the International Tax Center of Leiden University (the Netherlands) held in São Paulo, Brazil. He was in charge of a whole day training on Brazil’s CFC rules. To View Sergio’s presentation (in Portuguese), click here.

On January 24, 2017, Sergio André was at the University of Amsterdam for his annual lecture at the LL.M. program organized by UvA and IBFD. The topic of the lecture was “Selected tax treaty provisions and Impact of BEPS on BRICS and developing countries”.

Sergio André Rocha participated in a round-table on the OECD/G-20 BEPS Project. The event was held at the University of São Paulo and was organized by Professor Luís Eduardo Schoueri.
